Tour of Bran castle commonly known as Dracula’s castle

It is our aim to provide you with one of the most organised and best value tours of Bran Castle. We are aware that Transylvania has a powerful association with the legend of Dracula, so we will provide you with a one of the shortest and most interesting trips of a lifetime. If you are limited for time then this is an ideal trip for you. All you need to do is arrange your flight and we will do the rest.

The original castle is thought to have been built around 1212 by the Teutonic Knights. Originally constructed of wood the castle of Dietrichstein was used as a fortified position in the Burzenland at the entrance to a mountain valley through which traders had travelled for more than a millennium, although it was destroyed in 1242 by the Mongols. The first documented mentioning of Bran Castle is the act issued by Louis the 1st of Hungary on November 19th, 1377, giving the Saxons of Kronstadt (now Brasov) the privilege to build the stone citadel. The castle was first used in 1378 in defence against the Ottoman empire and later became a customs post on the mountain pass between Transylvania and Wallachia. The castle briefly belonged to Mercia the Elder of Wallachia.

Location: Bran castle is located approximately 27 kilometres from Brasov and 225 kilometres from Bucharest

Tour starts on a Friday. However, if you are a group of four persons we can arrange this tour any day of the week subject to availability.

Day 1

We will pick you up from the airport, drive you to Bran, book you into a comfortable pension and then drive you to Dracula’s castle for a photographic opportunity from outside the building. Bran is one of the most picturesque castles in Romania, sitting on a hilltop with magnificent views. We will then visit a local restaurant for dinner.

Day 2

After breakfast we will return for an inside tour of the castle.

Lunch we will be taken at a local restaurant and then we will take you for a drive around the surrounding countryside to take in the magnificent splendour of one of the most spectacular landscapes in Europe.

Day 3

After breakfast we will drive you to the airport for your return journey home.
